Drawing For Illustration: Lino printing

For this project I created a lino cut based on the sketch below of a clown frog from the composition brief.

What went well:

 The use of smaller pieces to layer the details in different colours worked very well.

I carved the background in a 'starburst' pattern to create directional lines which reminds me of a circus tent's stripes. 

Overall I am very pleased with how they turned out, especially the first print posted below. 

What could be improved:

My application of the ink looks messy on some of the prints, especially the star on the bottom one. To fix this I need to put on less ink and make sure to thoroughly clean the roller between colours.
